Wonder, naivety, spontaneity - the exploration and realization of these ideas in children's art, or in art for children - are concepts that are currently of great relevance to my life. These themes are reinforced for me on a daily basis, as I engage in play with my young children. Much of the work has been created through fusing techniques. The spontaneity of the fusing process sits well with the subject matter. I have chosen to leave the pieces in their 'raw' state, no attempt being made to hide the effect of the heat on the metal. 'Imperfections' in the metal in terms of texture and colour enhance the sense of childish naivety in the work."
