Pieces of Eight
Artists | Raymond de Zwart
" This highly symbolic jewellery makes the connection between the mechanical and the metaphysical. The intricate designs are born from a love of geometry and the cosmic measuring devices of the Renaissance. These apparatus’ called horograms were used to measure and explore the universe.

The techniques used here are much the same as that of the objects that inspired them; marking silver and gold sheet, centre punching points of axis, filigree saw piercing to highlight parts of the design whilst leaving other parts to reveal the working beneath."
