Nicky Hepburnās work is based on textures, patterns, details, light and colour. The forms are found in the landscapes of the bay, coast line and forest. Nicky references found objects such as shell grit and cuttlefish on the tide line, fish scales, leaves and forest litter. Her work is an observation and celebration of cycles and natural growth patterns encountered in the landscape.
Artist Bio
Nicky Hepburn completed a Diploma of Gold and Silversmithing, RMIT University and a Bachelor of Education in Arts and Crafts, The University of Melbourne, specialising in woodwork and textiles. She has been involved in numerous group, solo and international exhibitions including: the Walk, The Great South West Walk Art Project, 2006-2009. Nicky exhibits regularly at e.g.etal Gallery and Studio Ingot, Melbourne, and has recently given artist talks at Lake Macquarie Art Gallery, Shepparton Art Gallery and Counihan Gallery, Brunswick. She is a lecturer in Jewellery and Metalsmithing at Box Hill TAFE.
