Pieces of Eight

Artists | Melinda Young
Fascinated by the potential for unexpected narrative and interpretation, Melinda Young’s work has a carefully considered use of colour and often a sly, subversive sense of humour. Inspired by architecture, the landscape, the social condition of the body and her everyday surroundings, Young generally works to self-set projects. Her exhibition work often takes the form of small colour studies, each having the potential to tell a range of stories. While her production work is influenced by traditional patterns and motifs observed from wallpapers, textiles and architectural details.
