Events | Most Songs are Love Songs
An Exhibition by Teresa Lane
April 18 - May 12, 2007

Most songs are love songs, but we can play them as we like. For this exhibition, artist Teresa Lane has composed a world of jewellery that is rich in narrative and meaning. The works stem from hesitant charcoal and pencil drawings, depicting emotion in a raw and honest way. Objects of love, longing, guns and strange ambiguous creatures are the results.

Unconventional in her use and combination of materials, Teresa can be described as a true renegade jeweller, out to tell her story in unexplored ways. Drawing out the heart of steel as an expressive medium, Teresa has combined this with glass enamel, gold; and mysterious silver/copper alloys (shibuichi) to creating objects that tell their own tale of love. Her works will draw you into her strange world and might just break your heart.

Teresa Lane recently completed a Masters of Fine Art at RMIT University in 2006. Last year she was selected to participate in the prestigious Schmuck exhibition currently being held in Munich, Germany. She participated in an exchange to the Estonian Academy of Art in Tallinn, Estonia in 2006 and plans to return there to live later this year.
