Beneath the Surface Citrine Earrings
Luke Maninov Hammond
"To create these earrings, carefully detailed sterling silver pieces are depletion gilded, a time-consuming process requiring repeated heating and cleaning. The result of this process is an outer coat of fine white silver. Bringing these pieces to high-temperature once more, it is possible, by applying enough pressure, to fuse 24ct gold onto their surfaces - a technique known as keum-boo.
These earrings combine this technique with the beautiful orange and purples of faceted ametrines. Inspired by the microscopic worlds beneath the surface of the sea and our skin, these earrings celebrate nature's hidden beauty."
