Carla Maxine Germann, ORAÏK and Juan Castro
August 01 - 26, 2017
Pieces of Eight is delighted to introduce three new artists who present bold collections of international influence. Crafted here and abroad, these jewellers create pieces that transcend time and place, taking us into fantastic worlds, both natural and imagined.
South African born, Sydney based artist Carla Maxine Germann is inspired by the beauty of natural coloured diamonds. She creates delicate, clustered forms that celebrate these unique treasures and provide a visual feast.
Melbourne based Spaniard Juan Castro is intrigued by historical adornment. Exploring a mélange of influences from religious iconography to the anthropologist’s definition of beauty, he creates bold, tactile pieces.
ORAÏK is a collaboration between Ukrainian and Colombian born artists Elvira Golombosi & Hector Lasso, who met in Germany and now work from Ibiza, Spain. Employing their unconscious as a visionary and creative force, their bold rings and earrings depict visions of totemic figures and fantastical creatures imbued with supernatural powers.
These talented artists unveil collections that take us beyond the current realm to explore all that has come before - from sparkling gemstones unearthed from distant lands, to the adornments of ancient eras designed to empower and enhance the wearer.
