Kim Victoria's Favourite Sapphire Ring

Continuing our Artist Feature series with Kim Victoria, we asked her to talk about her favourite piece of jewellery that's currently in our collection.

It was no surprise that she chose the Reverence ring. This incredibly unique ring was handcrafted for our Rare group exhibition in 2022, which celebrated the diversity of unique diamonds and natural coloured gemstones. Read on to learn about this bold, architectural marvel.

PO8: Can you share with us the story behind one of your favourite pieces in your current collection at Pieces of Eight?

KV: The Reverence ring is an absolute stand-out for me. It’s no secret that I love bi-coloured and parti sapphires and this Malawi sapphire has such unusual golden and blue tones captured within it. For a long time this incredible Malawi sapphire sat in my personal collection, awaiting her moment.

I created an architectural setting with archways to let the light in and under the stone, so it soars above the rest of the ring, elevating the beautiful earthen tones of the gem. I have used a double casting technique and the setting is buried into the glowing gold of the band, complemented by sparkling champagne and white diamonds.

Given my background in interior design, I am compelled to combine elements of the built and natural environment in my work and feel the Reverence ring is a great example of this approach.

Do you love this bold style of parti sapphire ring?
We think you'll also love Kim Victoria's Corymbia ring, which is crafted in 18ct yellow gold with a yellow-green parti sapphire from Queensland, Australia.
