I see my work as an interpretation of art deco and modern influences – in particular art deco architecture and modern sculpture. I'm heavily influenced by the shapes and forms of these movements. My metal work reflects the bold forms, sweeping curves and clean edges often found in both these movements. I feel it's important to embrace new design and to be relevant to my own time and place.
David Parker is a traditionally trained goldsmith who has worked for some of Australia's leading jewellers. In 2004 he designed a bold range of jewellery that was selected to be part of the e.g.etal Precious Collection. This proved to be the beginning of a successful solo career that now sees David design and make pieces for Australian and international galleries. He continues to participate in group and solo exhibitions and also teaches jewellery techniques and theory to aspiring artists.
