Coming Soon: Pieces of Eight x Foolscap Open House Melbourne Event

Join us for the upcoming Open House Melbourne program. Responding to this year's theme, Generous City, the gallery will become the setting for a special installation celebrating collaboration, craft and the beauty of materials reimagined.

We invite you to experience a special installation of eight limited-edition hand-blown glass vases, created by glass artist Hamish Donaldson in collaboration with Adele Winteridge of Foolscap, the interior architect behind our Russell Place gallery. The display offers a close look at how reclaimed glass offcuts are transformed into abstract, sculptural vessels, each piece defined by its own composition of clear and vividly coloured fragments.

Bringing together architecture, craft and sustainability, each piece is formed from clear glass embedded with reclaimed coloured offcuts—fragments that would otherwise be discarded. Suspended within each vessel, these raw, jagged inclusions evoke fractured stained-glass windows, ensuring every vase is entirely unique.

This installation highlights the potential of reuse as both a design driver and a narrative device. It speaks to a broader ethos of generosity, not only in the sharing of ideas and collaboration between disciplines, but in the reconsideration of materials typically overlooked.
