This artist's home is one that really resonated with me. I’m drawn to the spaces and details, both monumental and intimate, all flooded with natural light. 40 years in the making, this house is the creation of well known Spanish sculptor Xavier Corberó and is located in the suburbs of Barcelona on an 8 acre estate.
The house has grown from 9 dilapidated industrial buildings that originally occupied the site. Geometric concrete structures frame the wild gardens and artworks which are scattered throughout the estate. I love the way external courtyards and ponds are framed by the arches of the architecture, and the interiors are all designed to manipulate light and cast ephemeral shadows that change throughout the day. Take me here please!
This beautiful little film showing 80 year old Xavier discussing the ideas which lead to the creation of his home will delight you and make you fall a little in love with him.

A pioneering art jeweller, Margaret De Patta was a true avant garde of her age. She was highly influenced by the Modernist movement, Bauhaus and Constructivism.
As a designer, I have been exploring custom cutting because I often envision forms and shapes that differ from what I can find at my usual suppliers.
