9ct yellow gold, baroque pearls and epoxy clay.

These are artworks first. The hand-painted surface is delicate and will scratch or wear away if not treated carefully — please think of them as collector pieces for occasional, considered wear rather than everyday earrings.

Store each pair in its own pouch or box, separately, so the painted surfaces never rub against anything — including each other. Avoid all abrasive surfaces, chemicals and perfume, and never expose them to water.

Worn thoughtfully and stored well, they'll keep for a lifetime. They are one-of-a-kind and never to be repeated.

Kate Tucker's hybrid works shift, fracture and recombine disparate elements, embedding multiple mediums within a single, self-supporting whole. Her process is fundamentally collage-based: flat planes are cut and reassembled, with some fragments left raw while others undergo continuous, iterative transformation. These combined processes form an ecosystem that gestures toward how art-making dissolves time, along with the boundaries between self, idea and material.

In ‘Hold/held’, Tucker treats pearls as raw material, combining them with other sculptural and painterly processes. Paint is applied sparingly, drawing attention to the pearls inherent qualities. She often incorporates hands into her otherwise abstract compositions, merging the viewpoint of the artist at work with a perspective from within the piece itself. Frequently referencing instructional art and craft books, these hands stand in for the artist's perspective and celebrate the enduring human urge to transform the world through making.
