William Llewellyn Griffiths: New Arrivals and Recognition

We are delighted to welcome new works by master goldsmith William Llewellyn Griffiths, whose practice is defined by symbolism, precision, and an unwavering commitment to craft. These latest arrivals reflect William’s deep interest in myth, devotion, and the quiet power of objects made to endure.

Aphrodite’s Key is a necklace rich in meaning, representing the unlocking of the heart and the opening of new chapters in life. An ornate scroll forms the body of the key, finished with a delicate fleur de lis, a timeless emblem of love, devotion, and renewal. Elegant and considered, the piece speaks to both romance and intention.

Neptune’s Key continues this language of symbolism. Two Baroque style dolphins form the arms of the key, representing protection and guidance as they arch together, appearing to kiss the central shell. Evoking the rhythms of the sea and ancient mythologies, the necklace offers a powerful talisman for transition and personal transformation.

These new works arrive at a significant moment in William’s career. He has recently been awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths, the highest honour within the organisation, and may now use the post nominal letters FIPG. The IPG admits only craftspeople of exceptional calibre, with Fellowship reserved for those whose work demonstrates outstanding skill, integrity, and contribution to the field.

Encouraged by former colleagues and peers, including recommendations made during GemGenève earlier this year, William was nominated by three existing Fellows who know his work personally. The rigorous application process included formal endorsements, the submission of works, and an interview. This recognition sits alongside his longstanding status as a Fellow Member of the Gold and Silversmiths Guild of Australia, further affirming his standing within the international goldsmithing community.

We invite you to discover William’s latest works in person, at our Russell Place gallery, or explore his collection online.
