This sculptural screen by Lisa Roet is cast in bronze and finished in black chrome, its surface imprinted with the intricate texture of orangutan skin — a recurring motif in her work that speaks to our shared biological and emotional connection with other primates.
The circular cut-outs punctuating the form reference the dot and the circle as enduring symbols in human culture — elements found across art, ritual, and architecture throughout time. Through these voids, the work becomes both barrier and lens, allowing glimpses of abstracted faces, landscapes, and imagined scenes to emerge.
