Product Details

Materials -
9ct yellow gold, baroque pearls and enamel paint

These are artworks first. The hand-painted surface is delicate and will scratch or wear away if not treated carefully — please think of them as collector pieces for occasional, considered wear rather than everyday earrings.

Store each pair in its own pouch or box, separately, so the painted surfaces never rub against anything — including each other. Avoid all abrasive surfaces, chemicals and perfume, and never expose them to water.

Worn thoughtfully and stored well, they'll keep for a lifetime. They are one-of-a-kind and never to be repeated.

Earrings only. The display sculpture shown is not for sale.

Dimensions -
50mm L x 18mm W

Description

Heather B. Swann has established a formidable reputation as a maker of large-scale sculptural objects and ink drawings of dark, sensual and fantastic presence, drawing on feminist literature, mythology, Graeco-Roman antiquity and classical figurative sculpture.

Born in Hobart in 1961, she has held more than twenty solo exhibitions since 1993, her work having been included in Inner Sanctum, Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia (2024); From the other side, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne (2023–24); NGV Triennial, National Gallery of Victoria (2023); The National 4: New Australian Art, Art Gallery of New South Wales (2023); and Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 to Now, National Gallery of Australia (2021).

In 2022 she was commissioned, in collaboration with Nonda Katsalidis, to create a permanent public
sculpture for the Setouchi Triennale, Japan. She was a recipient of the Art Gallery of New South Wales Barbara Tribe Travelling Scholarship in 2025, as well as the Copyright Agency Partnerships commission, with a solo exhibition, The Forests of Symbols opening at UNSW Galleries in 2026.

Her work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Art Gallery of New South Wales,
the Queensland Art Gallery and the Art Gallery of South Australia. She is represented by STATION Gallery.

Please note the sculpture pictured is not for sale.

This piece is part of our Tidal Wave exhibition and must remain in the gallery until August 31, 2026.
