Description
‘Sweet Thing’ is made from reconstructed glass and lab grown diamonds. It references a candy ring, a phenomenon that emerged in the 1970s and has maintained its popularity to this day.
Working with the physical similarity of glass and sugar crystals, and the qualitative similarity of diamonds with a tantalising sugary treat, I brought them together as a sweet ‘edible’ jewel, to sit in a sweet ‘edible’ box.
Michaela's ring was crafted in response to Daniel Emma's 'Spongecake' box. Please note, rings are sold separately to jewellery boxes.
This ring is part of our La Grande Fête exhibition and must remain in the gallery until May 30th, 2026.
La Grande Fête (The Grand Feast) is a curated contemporary jewellery exhibition presented as part of Melbourne Design Week 2026. It brings together makers and designers in conversation with a collection of sculptural, food-inspired jewellery boxes by celebrated Australian design duo DANIEL + EMMA.
