These are artworks first. The hand-painted surface is delicate and will scratch or wear away if not treated carefully — please think of them as collector pieces for occasional, considered wear rather than everyday earrings.

Store each pair in its own pouch or box, separately, so the painted surfaces never rub against anything — including each other. Avoid all abrasive surfaces, chemicals and perfume, and never expose them to water.

Worn thoughtfully and stored well, they'll keep for a lifetime. They are one-of-a-kind and never to be repeated.

Each pearl bears the word 'amor' (love): one painted in uppercase and the other in lowercase, reflecting the many ways love is expressed—both declarative and quiet,
ceremonial and intimate. The asymmetry speaks to loves shifting forms, suggesting that its strength lies not in perfection but in its capacity to adapt.

The earrings are presented on a hand-carved wooden display depicting two smiling balaclava-clad figures, painted in vivid colours. Their masked faces evoke the battles we fight to love openly and generously, while their smiles suggest that tenderness itself can be an act of resistance. The balaclava becomes both shield and symbol, acknowledging the vulnerability required to care for others in a world that often rewards hardness.

The title, To Love Is Power, comes from a phrase shared with Searle by his grandfather’s brother. Passed through generations, these words have become a quiet philosophy:
that choosing love is not an act of weakness, but one of courage, responsibility and transformation. The work echoes this sentiment, offering the earrings as small talismans, a daily reminder that love has the power to shape how we move through the world, and that even the simplest gestures of care can become acts of profound strength.
