True Love Tomb Earrings

Materials -
9ct yellow gold and baroque pearls.
Sold as one pair which are painted both sides.
Display sculpture: polymer clay, acrylic paint.

These are artworks first. The hand-painted surface is delicate and will scratch or wear away if not treated carefully — please think of them as collector pieces for occasional, considered wear rather than everyday earrings.

Store each pair in its own pouch or box, separately, so the painted surfaces never rub against anything — including each other. Avoid all abrasive surfaces, chemicals and perfume, and never expose them to water.

Worn thoughtfully and stored well, they'll keep for a lifetime. They are one-of-a-kind and never to be repeated.

"I’ve always been fascinated by The Lovers of Valdaro- a couple buried together in an
interlocked embrace 6,000 years ago in Mantua, Italy. They were only approximately 20
years old when they died, but forever locked in a loving embrace. I thought the baroque
pearls would be a beautiful way to further highlight this romance.

I think blue is an ever present, aspirational and deeply calming presence in our lives.
Given the organic and irregular nature of the pearls, I initially wanted to use blues to
create rock pool like forms on the pearls surface. However the pearl’s luminous surface has a galactic nature that evoked a sense of destiny, thus I filled the rock pools with the
Lovers of Valdaro.

The text that runs across the pearls is 'True Love', easy, simple, clear. I like that when
the pearls are switched they can also read 'Love True', which can be interpreted as
living true in your relationship, or to yourself."
