The Tidal Wave earrings are presented on a hand-carved wooden display, depicting two smiling balaclava-clad figures, painted in vivid colours. Their masked faces evoke the battles we fight to love openly and generously, while their smiles suggest that tenderness itself can be an act of resistance. The balaclava becomes both shield and symbol, acknowledging the vulnerability required to care for others in a world that often rewards hardness.
The title, To Love Is Power, comes from a phrase shared with Searle by his grandfather’s brother. Passed through generations, these words have become a quiet philosophy:
that choosing love is not an act of weakness, but one of courage, responsibility and transformation. The work echoes this sentiment, offering the earrings as small talismans, a daily reminder that love has the power to shape how we move through the world and that even the simplest gestures of care can become acts of profound strength.
