Description

This intricate screen sculpture by Lisa Roet is cast from the textured surface of orangutan skin — a recurring motif in her practice that speaks to the intimate connections between humans and our primate relatives. Through a grid of geometric cut-outs, Roet juxtaposes the organic and the constructed: the raw imprint of nature alongside the rigid order of human design.

The resulting work becomes both barrier and portal, inviting the viewer to look through, to question, and to reflect on our place within the natural world. In its golden surface and sculptural form, Orangutan Skin Screen embodies Roet’s ongoing exploration of empathy, evolution, and the delicate balance between culture and nature.

Rewilding is a new body of rings, neckpieces, and earrings by Lisa Roet. Continuing her exploration of the human–nature connection, these works invite wearers to embrace their instinctive selves. By reawakening the “monkey within,” Roet reflects on our shared place in the natural world.
