A collaboration between Lisa Roet / KITX by Kit Willow for Pieces of Eight
As part of the VAMFF 2016 Cultural Program Project Series
March 10 - April 16, 2016
Age, beauty, wisdom, and connection balanced by a mutual interest in ideas of materiality and sustainability are the catalyst for this incredible and highly personal collaboration between visual artist Lisa Roet and designer Kit Willow / KITX. Part of the VAMFF 2016 Cultural Program Project Series, featuring photography in collaboration with Jo Yeldham for Pieces of Eight, this event will be a first ever collaboration between these two like minded creatives working on the edge of their fields linking art and design.
The ancient rainforests of Borneo, home of the orangutan, and the beauty of a woman reaching her 100th year (who also happens to be the designer's maternal grandmother) are key subjects in this exhibition. They are countered by the use and exploration of materials translated into hand crafted wearables which open a conversation about the fragility of life, both human and animal.
A percentage of the funds raised by the exhibition will be donated to OVAID for veterinary equipment to be sent to the ravaged forests of Borneo and Sumatra to help in the care of injured orangutans.
