Luke Maninov Hammond
My practice reimagines biological forms to explore themes of impermanence, consciousness and connection between all living things. Inspired by my work in biomedical imaging and neuroscience research, these organic designs draw on biophillia and our innate attraction to living systems, to encourage reflection on what lies below the surface of our beings.
Luke Maninov Hammond is a Brisbane based jeweller and neuroscience imaging specialist. An exhibition development award (QCA/Flying Arts) in 2014 allowed him to present his first solo exhibition of jewellery and silver sculptures, 'In This Unfolding', at the Queensland College of Art. The success of this exhibition led to subsequent solo and group shows. Luke’s work has been exhibited across several countries and has appeared in fashion magazines such as Jute and Black. In addition to jewellery and object making, Luke currently manages a world leading advanced micro imaging facility at the University of Queensland’s Queensland Brain Institute (QBI).
